Corporate Lawyer for Startups

Startup Lawyers Brisbane provide practical ‘down to earth’ legal advice for startups and small to medium enterprises on governance, compliance, capital raising, structuring, and other corporate law matters.

Starting your business. If it is time for you to implement your ideas and start your own company, Startup Lawyers Brisbane can help set up the right structure for your new venture. Speak with a Corporate Lawyer for Startups who has qualifications in law, accounting and corporate governance. We work with entrepreneurs and business owners to turn their dreams into fully functional enterprises. Helping you turn your dreams into reality is the most rewarding part of our job.

Small Scale Offerings. Section 708 of the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth) sets out the circumstances where capital raising does not require expensive disclosure documents. It is these provisions of the act which people refer colloquially to as the 20/12 rule. While a formal prospectus is not required for small scale offerings, care must still be taken to ensure no representation is made which may be misleading or deceptive. While problems may not immediately arise, capital raisings carry long-term risks if the contents of any information memorandum, or other representation, are not carefully considered.

Privacy Compliance. Since the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into effect, Australia’s privacy regime has come under increasing scrutiny. Like other countries privacy laws in Australia are evolving rapidly to cater for new technology which can gather and process more and more data about individuals. Startup Lawyers Brisbane advises during, and immediately following, data loss and cyber security events. We advise on corporate responsibilities under the notifiable data breach scheme and assist with a range of other privacy compliance obligations.

Corporate Governance. Other than disputes with other people arising from commercial relationships which have gone astray, corporate governance issues are one of the most prevalent problems faced by businesses. It is hard enough complying with the regulatory hurdles placed in front of businesses today, but the real problems come in to play when a regulatory requirement is missed or not effected properly. In addition to compliance our Corporate Lawyer for Startups can assist small and medium enterprises with a range of other risk, governance and corporate secretarial tasks.

Law does not operate in a vacuum.

Businesses need corporate lawyers who navigate the financial, commercial and economic realities of business beyond the black letter of the law.
